Transformations: The Campaign for Donnelly College

Transformations: The Campaign for Donnelly College builds upon Donnelly’s unique success in working with at-risk students, and enables the college to continue pursuing its mission of meeting the educational needs of all students from throughout this region. Through higher education, Donnelly continues to transform people, places and spirits (and will be able to do so more through a revitalized campus that will result from a successful campaign).

This campaign is the biggest and most comprehensive in Donnelly’s history, and perhaps as ambitious as when the college was first begun. But there is no better investment to ensure future students have equal opportunities to develop their talents, reach their goals and pursue truth - despite disadvantages they might face today. With your help in making this Transformation a reality, both Donnelly and our students will have a bright future that will impact the entire community.

Campaign Progress

We are thrilled to announce that we have raised $33 million, or 96%, of our Transformations Campaign goal! Many generous foundations, organizations, alumni, and individuals have made this progress possible, including helping us to successfully complete the Mabee Foundation's $1 million Challenge Grant pledge by September 2019. The fundraising continues, so we ask you to consider JOINING US on this important Transformation for Donnelly College and our students.

Please see our Transformations Campaign partner investors and join us in thanking them!

La Familia Dean-Lozoya Foundation

Donnelly College friends and benefactors Michael and Guadalupe Dean (Guadalupe also serves on the Donnelly College Board of Directors) of the La Familia Dean-Lozoya Foundation, generously committed to name the new Academic Resource Center – a commitment that supports the transformative work that occurs every day on the Donnelly College campus.

The commitment was made at an event hosted by the Consulate of Mexico in Kansas City. Following the ceremony, the La Familia Dean-Lozoya Foundation also announced that in 2021 Donnelly will be one of two locations in the United States to host an exhibition of the work by recently deceased artist Francisco Benjamin Lopez Toledo who many regard as the most prolific modern Mexican painter.

Partner Spotlight
The Sunderland Foundation

The Sunderland Foundation has supported Donnelly’s mission since 1976 and has been especially instrumental in advancing our current master plan projects. The foundation supported the first two phases with gifts totaling $750,000. The Sunderland Foundation has made a $5 million commitment to Phase III. “We are pleased to be able to help Donnelly provide its students with this new learning environment,” said Kent Sunderland, president and trustee of the Sunderland Foundation.

The Sunderland Foundation’s pledge continues momentum generated by several previous donors. In 2010, an anonymous alumnus pledged Donnelly’s first $1 million gift. In 2013, our sponsor, the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, committed $4 million and another friend of the college committed $2 million. The Sunderland gift also came just a month after an anonymous new individual donor committed $1 million.
